Curtain & Blind Measurement Guide
A specification checklist for Sydney designers and curtain retailers. Separate opening measurements, finished sizes and hardware allowances before manufacture. Site measurement can be arranged by agreement.
- Trade supply only—no retail checkout or public price list
- Your fabric or LuxAura sourcing
- Representative follow-up within one business day

Record the site before applying allowances
Measure each opening at several heights and widths. Record plumb and level differences, recess depth, finished flooring, tile returns, handles, opening sashes, pelmets and fixing substrate.
- State all dimensions in millimetres.
- Label every opening and each panel position.
- Mark inside/recess versus face fixing.
Fabrication & specification notes
Opening size and finished product size are not the same. Do not deduct a universal figure from every recess: headrail and bracket clearances differ by system. Confirm the measuring responsibility before cutting. Photographs help communicate obstructions but cannot replace verified site dimensions.

Curtain widths and drops depend on heading and hardware
Record the finished track run, returns, centre overlap and opening direction. Choose a finished drop intentionally: clear of floor, touching or puddling.
- Use installed track position for the final drop reference.
- Confirm hooks, carrier spacing and heading tape.
- Calculate fullness from the selected heading system.
Fabrication & specification notes
A nominal window width is not the finished curtain width. Stack space may extend beyond the glazing. For S-fold, use the actual carrier spacing and track/heading combination. For pinch pleats, agree pleat depth and spacing. Measure against finished flooring, including carpet pile where applicable.

Roman folds need stack and sash clearance
Confirm finished width and drop, control side and headrail location. Check that the raised stack clears the required view and opening path.
- Face fix may help raise the stack above an opening.
- Review fabric joins and print placement before ordering fabric.
- Record power entry and charging/service access for motorised blinds.
Fabrication & specification notes
For adjacent blinds, agree a consistent visible fold layout and pattern starting point. A wide opening may need separate panels. Motor and headrail limits, lifted fabric weight and fixing support are assessed together. Measurements alone do not establish a maximum manufacturing size.

Approve a complete handover sheet
Provide labelled measurements, selected fabric, lining, heading, hardware, controls and target date. Sydney measuring and installation can be quoted so responsibilities are clear.
- Approve final dimensions in writing.
- Confirm fabric availability and any customer-supplied fabric inspection.
- Confirm who installs and commissions before production.
