Linen Fabric Sourcing, Fabrics & Trims

LuxAura supplies linen, decorative textiles and trims for interior designers, decorators, curtain retailers, homeware brands and commercial projects across Sydney and Australia. Compare composition, handle, weight, weave, intended use and available test data before curtains, Roman blinds, cushions or upholstery are approved.

  • Trade supply only—no retail checkout or public price list

The LuxAura Linen Collection

For Sydney linen fabric sourcing, start with Pure Linen, Linen Blends, or Printed & Embroidered Linen, then confirm the exact article by composition, GSM, weave, finish, handle, transparency, usable width, care and intended application.

  • Pure Linen — consider natural drape, texture, wrinkle character and supplier care guidance for the intended product.
  • Linen Blends — assess the stated fibre percentages, softness, dimensional stability, crease behaviour and care rather than relying on the word “blend”.
  • Printed & Embroidered Linen — confirm the base cloth, motif repeat, placement, seam plan and any effect of the decoration on handle.
  • Approve a physical sample, colour batch and available quantity before final allocation.
Fabrication & specification notes

Pure linen may be selected where natural texture, relaxed drape and characteristic creasing suit the design. A linen blend may offer a different softness, structure, crease response or care route, but the outcome depends on its exact fibres, percentages, yarn, weave and finish. Dimensional change and care requirements must come from the current supplier data for the selected article; they are not inferred from fibre name alone.

Linen GSM: what the weight tells a buyer—and what it does not

GSM means grams per square metre: the weight of one square metre of fabric. It helps a buyer compare likely body, thickness, light transmission and drape, but it is not a substitute for abrasion, opacity, durability or quality data.

  • Curtains and decorative panels — review finished drape, thickness, transparency, heading response and whether lining changes the hand.
  • Roman blinds — review fold formation, seam and pocket bulk, total blind weight, hardware limits and motor selection; GSM alone does not size a motor.
  • Cushions, seat pads and upholstery — review touch, shape, seam stress and the performance tests required by the actual use.
  • Before cutting — confirm that lining, seams, needles, thread, pressing and finishing are appropriate for the approved fabric.
Fabrication & specification notes

Two fabrics with the same GSM can behave very differently because their yarn size, fibre blend, weave density and finishing are different. Always approve the actual sample and use the current supplier specification. No numerical GSM is published here until it is confirmed against a current LuxAura supplier article.

What to send for a linen fabric quote

A useful quote starts with the intended product and conditions, not a colour name alone. LuxAura confirms use and specification, then supports selection, sampling, finished-product approval and production to reduce rework and differences on replenishment.

  • Intended use and environment: curtain, Roman blind, cushion, seat pad, upholstery, commercial, pet-use or outdoor conditions.
  • Finished dimensions, quantities, colour or pattern direction, preferred composition and target handle.
  • Use intensity and required evidence: GSM, abrasion method, pilling, colourfastness, seam slippage, dimensional change, care or another project-specific test.
  • Construction: lining, seams, repeat placement, edge finish, closure, cushion insert and any hardware or motor constraints.
  • Branding and logistics: labels, packaging, delivery location and target date.
Fabrication & specification notes

Pending supplier-data list: exact article code, confirmed GSM, fibre percentages, usable width, repeat, batch availability, dimensional-change result, care instructions and any requested performance reports. Martindale and Wyzenbeek results must retain their named method and source; the figures are not directly converted or treated as universal proof of commercial suitability.

British prints and decorative textile sourcing

Prestigious Textiles, Sanderson and William Morris fabric directions support English country, traditional and contemporary schemes. Match the design to the manufacture rather than choosing from a swatch alone. Italian Blue and other Italian collections can be reviewed using the exact supplier label, design and colour reference.

  • Send exact collection, design and colour references.
  • Allow for straight or half-drop repeats and pattern-centred cuts.
  • Confirm availability and authorized sourcing for the selected collection.
Fabrication & specification notes

An exact collection name matters: brand naming is not a guarantee that every design is available. Embroidery, large repeats and narrow usable widths change yields. Send Italian collection labels when requesting a source match; unconfirmed brand spellings are not published as a partnership.

Performance selection without blanket promises

Edmund Bell commercial fabric, FibreGuard functional upholstery, Mobus furnishing fabrics and Sunbrella outdoor ranges are selected against the actual use. Ask for the specific product sheet and care instructions.

  • Check lightfastness, cleaning, abrasion, pilling and seam performance.
  • For acoustic or fire needs, obtain the applicable report and test conditions.
  • Do not turn stain resistance into a stain-proof or pet-proof promise.
Fabrication & specification notes

Fabric specifications are product-specific. A brand’s performance range can contain several compositions and care methods. For upholstery, consider the entire assembly and use pattern; for curtains, review translucency, drape, lining and exposure. International fire tests require a check against the actual Australian use.

Your fabric or our sourcing: plan the yield before cutting

A cutting plan protects your margin and reduces avoidable reorder costs. It records usable width, repeat, orientation, batch, joins and the allocation to each item.

  • Supply sufficient fabric for repeat placement and related items.
  • Record faults and usable width before committing to cuts.
  • Confirm reserve fabric and remnants where the client needs future replacements.
Fabrication & specification notes

For customer-supplied material, label each roll with order and design reference. For sourced fabric, approval of the swatch does not itself reserve stock. Confirm quantity and batch when the order is placed. Wholesale price, minimum cuts and availability are quoted rather than published as a retail price list. A 64 cm repeat on a cutting length of 230 cm, for example, can require rounding to 256 cm for a straight-repeat matched drop before any separate leading motif allowance. That illustrative calculation is not sufficient for a half-drop repeat, a directional scene print or coordinated multi-window matching. Record the actual repeat and placement on the cutting plan.

Trade FAQ

Do you sell fabrics to the general public?

LuxAura is trade-only. Fabric sourcing and wholesale supply are for verified business customers; submit a Trade Application to discuss your requirements.

Can we supply our own fabric for manufacture?

Yes. We review the exact fabric, quantity, width, repeat, condition and care instructions before agreeing the cutting and manufacturing scope.

What fabric weight should I choose for linen cushions?

Choose against the exact cushion use, desired drape and shape, construction, insert and care route. Request the confirmed GSM for the selected article, then review handle, seam behaviour, pilling, abrasion and colourfastness where the use requires them. LuxAura does not assign an unverified GSM range to every cushion application.

Can the same linen be used for curtains, Roman blinds and upholstery?

Only when the selected article is documented and approved for each use. Curtains need suitable drape and light control; Roman blinds add fold, lining, total-weight and hardware considerations; upholstery adds seam and wear demands. One sample or GSM value does not establish all three uses.

Does heavier linen mean better durability?

No. GSM measures fabric mass per square metre, not durability or quality. Yarn, weave, finishing, seam construction, care and the relevant abrasion, pilling, colourfastness or seam-slippage results can make fabrics of the same GSM perform differently.

What specifications should I provide when requesting a linen fabric quote?

Provide the product and environment, finished dimensions, quantity, colour or design, preferred composition and handle, use intensity, required test evidence, lining and construction, cushion insert if relevant, labels and packaging, delivery location and target date. If an exact article is known, include its supplier code, colour and current data sheet.

Specifications, lead times and warranty terms are confirmed for each order in writing. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
