Which Trim for Which Product
Use this as a starting point, then confirm scale, weight, sewing allowance, care and clearance against the actual fabric and finished product.

| Trim | Best for | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Braid / border tape | Curtain leading edges, Roman blind hems, cushion bands | Flat and sewn onto the face; suitable for Roman blinds when scale and fold clearance are confirmed |
| Flanged cord | Cushion edges, upholstery welts | The flange is sewn into the seam |
| Bullion fringe | Sofa and ottoman skirts, heavy drapes | Heavy; confirm that the base fabric and construction can carry it |
| Brush fringe | Lampshades, cushions | Soft finish with a short decorative drop |
| Tassel or ball fringe | Cushions, throws, pelmets | Allow clearance in high-traffic areas |
| Tassel tiebacks | Curtains | Choose length and scale against the curtain stack |
| Key tassels | Joinery and furniture | Decorative accent; confirm attachment and clearance |

Choose the trim for the application
A curtain leading edge, a cushion perimeter and a sofa skirt put different demands on a trim. We confirm tape width, decorative drop, composition and sewing allowance with you before ordering.
- Braid and border: for leading edges, blind hems and applied bands.
- Fringe and tassels: sized for scale and clearance from floors, doors and traffic.
- Cord, flange and scallop: for sewn cushion and upholstery edges.
Fabrication & specification notes
Include corners, joins, returns and pattern repeat when calculating metres. Approve the finished scale on a physical sample; a screen image cannot establish tassel length or trim weight. Keep fold and movement clearances in mind for Roman blinds and motorised curtains.

Approve trims with the actual fabric
Light, texture and dye lots change how a trim matches. We check the trim against your production fabric before metres are committed. Many styles can be dyed to match your fabric; minimums and lead times vary by style and are confirmed with your quote.
- Colour checked under lighting relevant to the intended room.
- Seam bulk, curve handling and care compatibility tested.
- Dye batch and approved reference recorded for repeat orders.
Fabrication & specification notes
A heavy applied border can alter curtain hang; a stiff braid can resist a shaped cushion edge. Sample mitres, corners and seam bulk before the main cut, and confirm that fabric and trim care requirements are compatible.

Trade FAQ
Where can I buy passementerie in Sydney?
LuxAura supplies trade clients from Alexandria, Sydney. We hold a small stock and order most trims from our manufacturing partner to suit each project. Trims are priced on quote, based on quantity.
Can trims be dyed to match my fabric?
Yes, for many styles. Our manufacturing partner dyes in its own dye house. Minimum quantities and lead times depend on the style, and we confirm them when we quote.
Can you sew trims onto curtains and cushions?
Yes. Most trims are applied to the curtains, Roman blinds, cushions and upholstery we make, so the trim and fabric are matched and sewn in one job.
Can I buy trims without make-up?
Yes. Trade clients can buy trims by the metre on quote. Pricing depends on quantity.
Which trim suits a Roman blind?
A flat braid or border tape along the hem or leading edge is the usual starting point. Avoid bulky fringes that stop the blind folding neatly; confirm scale, sewing allowance and clearance on the approved sample.
Specifications, lead times and warranty terms are confirmed for each order in writing. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
